“Congratulation”: Traditionally-processed Liu Bao (mid 1990s)

"Congratulation" (Pu Tian He Qing) is a mid 1990s liu bao, mellow and smooth with a rounded profile. It comes from Wuzhou in Guangxi and was made the traditional way, with wet piling and steaming to drive fermentation, then stored in Malaysia.

Liu bao is a dark tea (hei cha). The relatively light fermentation at the time of production left plenty of room for ageing, which has refined its appearance, aroma and flavour.

A comforting aged aroma and a silky, sweet liquor in the classic liu bao style. It brings on the saliva and the taste lingers.
