“Celebration”: Traditionally-processed Liu Bao (late 1980s)

"Celebration" (Pu Tian Gong Qing) is a late 1980s liu bao with a refreshing, clean profile. It comes from Wuzhou in Guangxi and was made the traditional way, with wet piling and steaming to drive fermentation, then stored in Malaysia.

Liu bao is a dark tea (hei cha). The relatively light fermentation at the time of production left plenty of room for ageing, which has rounded out its appearance, aroma and flavour.

Lively and pure in the cup. The liquor is silky and goes down easily. If you appreciate very good liu bao, this is one to have.
