Wood Fired Teapot - 245ml - Master Chen
Artist: Master Chen
Volume: 245ml
Clay: Zini
Firing: Triple fired — electric, wood, electric
Origin: Yixing, Jiangsu. Acquired in person, 2026.
Description: Most wood-fired pots go through the kiln once and take whatever the flame gives them. This one was fired three times: an electric firing to set the body, a wood firing to lay ash and flame across the surface, then a final electric firing to fix the result. It is a slow, expensive way to work, and it produces a surface with real depth rather than the flat scorch of a single pass.
At 245ml it is a sharing pot. The zini body and the wood-fired surface together suit aged sheng, shou and liu bao, the teas that reward a generous vessel and a long session.
